The unique design of the BIOWENT® biofilter enables the effective removal of organic and inorganic compounds, including
mercaptans, hydrogen sulfide, aldehyde and ammonia. This prevents the spread of intense, often very unpleasant odors,
characteristic of the operation of pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, sewage systems and industrial plants. The
use of a biofilter in these conditions has a positive effect on the protection of the natural environment and the
quality of life of the inhabitants.
The treatment process in the BIOWENT® device consists mainly of creating natural conditions for the development of
microorganisms in a biological bed, which is usually a properly composed mixture of wood chips and roots of deciduous
trees. It is necessary to systematically and intensively moisten this bed and inoculate it with appropriate
microorganisms, as well as to dose the nutrients appropriate for the development of microorganisms. An important
advantage of the BIOWENT® biofilter is that it neutralizes the emission of unpleasant odors in a natural, biological
way, and the replacement of the bed or its regeneration is usually necessary not more often than every 5 years. The used
biological bed can be used as input for a composting plant and it does not pose any threat to the natural environment.
The design of the device itself is simple and it can be briefly described as consisting of a fan, an automatic
humidification and nutrient dosing system, and a biological bed. The system continuously measures the temperature and
pressure of the bed, which guarantees favorable conditions for the development of microflora. An important feature of
the BIOWENT® biofilter is the convenience of use, because the device does not require constant maintenance, and its
operation is largely automated, including the field of air parameters measurements. The BIOWENT® plants are resistant to
weather conditions and work efficiently in all seasons.
Dealing with this technology for over 20 years, we have extensive experience in the treatment of difficult gases and
those with a high pollution load. We also offer continuous on-line measurement of typical odor generating gases
(hydrogen sulphide and ammonia) at the inlet and outlet of the device. Each of the devices can be equipped with the
MONITEL® monitoring system, allowing for remote online gas concentration readings with data archiving.
